Study Recommendations

To succeed on this important exam, develop a realistic study plan and commit to it as best you can. The exam tests your deep understanding of surveying principles as applied to civil engineering projects, so focus on building a solid grasp of the concepts rather than just memorizing formulas. When tackling questions, use process of elimination and trust your intuition.

Based on feedback from many past candidates, most spend 80–120 hours preparing. This typically includes:

  • Watching all the course videos (~30 hours total)
  • Taking detailed notes
  • Working through chapter problems
  • Completing CBT quizzes and practice tests

As you progress through the materials, jot down any areas needing clarification. Compile your questions by individual chapter (or group 2–3 chapters at a time) and email them to me—I'm here to coach you every step of the way.

Once you've completed the videos, notes, problems, and practice tests, you'll be well-prepared to sit for the exam with confidence and pass successfully. You've got this!
